Consequences of Rejecting Jesus

Posted in Uncategorized on September 5, 2008 by nedunghat

If we reject Jesus, many things will happen including the following:

Before physical death:

1. We will remain separated from God in a condemned state because of our sins.

According to Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death (Spiritual separation), but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” John 3:18 say, “…but whoever does not believe (in Jesus) is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the Son of God.”

2. We are destined to eternal death (Lake of Fire).

According to Rev 20:14-15, “Then the death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire (Hell) and if anyone’s name is not found recorded in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” 1 John 5:12, “…whoever does not have the Son of God does not have the life (Eternal life).”

3. Our hearts will be filled with anxiety and fear, as we come face to face with death.

Psalm 38:18, “… I am full of anxiety because of my sin.” Proverbs 12:25, “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word (word of assurance from God) makes him glad.” How true it is! Especially when we become old or come close to the point of death, we will become anxious, frightened and depressed. We panic, and do not want to die. We want to cling on to this life at all cost. We want to get well and continue to live here on earth forever with our loved ones. Our minds will be filled with hopelessness and a deep sense of loneliness and fear will fill our hearts because we do not know what will happen after death. What a tragic end that will be! Jesus told Martha, in John 11:25, “I am the one who raises the dead and gives them life again. Anyone who believes in me, even though he dies like anyone else, shall live again. He is given eternal life for believing in me and shall never perish. Do you believe this Martha? She replied, “Yes, Master,” I believe you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the we have so long waited.”

After physical death:

1. Our souls will be taken to a place of unrighteous dead, where we will begin our unending suffering straight away.

Jesus said in Luke 16:19-24, “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desires to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. “The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted us his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am, in anguish in this flame.”

2. On the Day of Judgment we will be brought before the judgment seat of God.

Hebrews 9:27 say, “Just as it is appointed for man to die once and then comes the judgment.” Revelation 20:11-15, ”And I saw a great white throne and the one who sat upon it, from whose face the earth and sky fled away, but they found no place to hide. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before God; and the Books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to the things written in the Books, each according to the deeds he had done. The oceans surrendered the bodies in them; and earth and the underworld gave up the dead in them. Each was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. This is the Second Death — the Lake of Fire. And if anyone’s name was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.”

3. We will be in great pain and suffering with no one to comfort us.

Bible also gives us a solemn description of the Lake of fire. Rev 20:10, “And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophets are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Jesus said in Matt 8:12, ”While the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness (Hell), where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” This is an everlasting tormenting state with no second chance. That will be terrifying and tragic. Think of it. God has given us enough warnings so that we can make a wise decision now. We must make that decision before our final journey into eternity while we are still in our sober state. Luke 16:26, “And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.” Death is only one heartbeat away. We have to face it one day. With Christ in our hearts we could face the future with confidence. Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” Again in 1 John 5:11-13, ”…he who has the Son has life; … ” Dear friend, do you like to receive Jesus Christ?

If ‘Yes’, here is how you could receive Christ.
